What did you think?

Reflect back on all we did with short stories. Reading online, reading from the book, taking notes online, taking notes on paper, discussing, blogging, creative assignments like the skeleton character or story trip. What has been the most beneficial to you? What did you like? What would you change? (keep in mind that you are in high school now and the expectations are much greater) What do you want to do again? or do differently?

I liked putting it on Word and highlighting and commenting on it. It made me much more organized. I liked it because I could have everything in one place without taking home more than a USB. I think we should deffinately do it again.

I think that some of the stuff we did was cool with the short stories, but others were "not so cool." The reading online thing is basically amazing because you don't have to bring around a large book and it is easier to read. The blogging was also really cool when we all did it at the same time. I didn't like the skeleton character thing as much because it was kind of hard to understand. But it wasn't that bad. The story strip actually helped with the notes, but I still didn't like it very much. I am going to be straight up honest-The things I want to change is to have no story skeleton or story strip. Also, the note taking on Word was pretty awesome as well. I would like to do that as well as do a blog where everyone is doing it at the same time. That was cool.

I liked reading online because it helped me with my computer skills and i didn't have to lug around a huge book. One thing i didnt like was typing notes because im a slow typer and could't keep up with the class. The most beneficial thing was probably the sticky note questions because they really made me think about what i was reading.

I prefered to read the story off of the computer, and to read on our own. I also liked doing the notes in class, it was more helpful being able to hear other people's ideas. The cell phones were fun, but they got a little bit annoying after a while.

I would change the ammount of time we had to read the stories and to do the assignments that go along with them. With only one night, you couldn't really take a lot of time to think about the story. There just wasn't time to do it.

It would be really cool if we could keep doing the big classroom discussions on different things, they always turn out to be really interesting.

To me, there were good and bad aspects about reading online. I liked that you could go to it anytime and anywhere there was a computer, but I got tired of staring at a screen for long periods of time. I loved taking notes on the computer, becuase you can save it to your USB and take it anywhere, and you don't have the hassle of paper and pencils. I think that blogging is a great way to have people express their opinions, and it's like having a class discussion after school in our own home. I did not like the story skeletons, they were quite corny and seemed like busy work to me. I don't like doing vocab cards. I hate drawing and if we could just define the words on our own, then that would be great. When we do story notes, I think that it should be on the computer. Great way to integrate technology with the cell phones.

One thing that I would change is how we get a variable amount of homework. Some nights it's a breeze, but others land me with upwards of 2 1/2 hours. I am in marching band, and most afternoons we practice afterschool until as late as 6:30. It would help me plan better if we had a certain amount of time that we could expect to spend on homework.

to me the most benifisiol was readign the story in a word document. Doing the story plots however was also very benifisiul. I liked doing all our work on the computer and the blogs. The only thing I might have changed would be me forgeting some assignments.

What has been the most benefical for me is taking notes on the computer and reading from the computer. What I liked about it was how not carring around a 700 book everyday to class. What I would do differently is like instead of go over notes in class do it with a group of kids in your class. That way maybe the kids that don't talk alot can feel more comfortable with just a group.

I honestly have to say that I like reading out of a textbook rather than on the computer. I felt that taking notes on the computer is a lot better for me because if i write fast than sometimes i cant read what i wrote, but on the computer i am able to type quickly and it is legible.I would like to do something like this again
